SPARK CHAMBER GAS MIXTURES FOR ATOMIC PARTICLE STUDIES
Spark Chambers are used in particle physics as particle detectors. Spark chambers contain a stack of metal plates in a sealed box with a spark chamber gas mixture between the plates. Typically the spark chamber gas consists of a mixture of helium and neon. When a charged particle moves through the box, it ionizes the gases, when a high voltage is applied, sparks are made and form along the trajectory of the particle. SCI Analytical has 3 different spark chamber mixtures available. 10% Helium and 90% Neon, 20% Helium and 80% Neon, and 25% Helium and 75% Neon.
